Baseball Canada announces WBSC Americas U-18 Baseball World Cup Qualifier roster

JUAN DOLIO, Dominican Republic – Baseball Canada is pleased to announce the names of the 20 athletes who will represent Canada at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Americas U-18 Baseball World Cup Qualifier in La Paz and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico from November 4-13.
Canada will compete in Group B along with Peru, Puerto Rico, USA and Venezuela while Group A consists of Cuba, Dominican Republic, host Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama.
The top four nations at the qualifier will earn the right to compete at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup scheduled for Tainan, Taiwan in September 2023.
The roster was finalized after a Selection Camp in the Dominican Republic where the squad faced off with Dominican Professional Academy teams from the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres organizations.
Roster Notes
-Nine players named to the roster represented Canada in September at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Florida, including LHP Elliot Cadieux-Lanoue, RHP Makaio Cisneros, INF Ty Hall, OF/LHP Ty Hamilton, 3B Myles Naylor, OF/LHP Keegan O’Hearn, RHP Jack Pineau, INF Sam Shaw and LHP Reece Usselman.
-1B Ty Doucette has participated in previous Junior National Team camps including the 2021 Friendship Series against the United States.
-Ten players named to the final roster will be making their debuts with the Junior National Team program in international competition including RHP Matthew Brown, RHP Tate Carey, C Cardel Dick, RHP Matthew Donnison, OF Noah Konings, INF Brendan Lawson, C Cam Macleod, RHP Benjamin Soke, OF Jorge Valdes and RHP Michael Yusypchuk
