WEYBURN, Sask. — The Weyburn Beavers walked off the Okotoks Dawgs with a 3-2 victory on Monday night at Tom Laing Park.

With the league leader in saves on the mound for the Dawgs, Craig Smith (Columbia College) surrendered a two-run home run to Wade Weinburger with Cory Ewald on base.

The loss snaps the Dawgs season-high winning streak at nine games. Smith is now 0-3 on the season.

The Dawgs (24-11) led for the first eight innings after Eddie Sanchez (Central Arkansas University) drove home Cole MacLaren (University of Pittsburgh) and Collin Ridout (Tennessee Wesleyan University) with a single to right field in the third.

The Beavers (26-9) started the comeback in the fifth when Weinburger doubled to centre to start the fifth inning. He was driven home when Cam Williams singled to pick up his 10th RBI.

Beavers starter Landon Mostellar was strong through seven innings against the Dawgs. He surrendered two runs and six hits. Chandler Casey was the pitcher of record in the ninth for the Beavers and earned his first win in his first inning of the season.

Cody Ebert (Columbia College) handled the Beavers through six innings but ran into trouble in the seventh. The bullpen stepped up and helped their starter, as Dustin Schorie (Mesa Community College) and Jesse Coleman (Weber International University) teamed up to escape the seventh with the lead.
