Blue Jays acquire Hicks from Cardinals

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired RHP Jordan Hicks from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for RHP Adam Kloffenstein and RHP Sem Robberse.
Hicks, 26, has appeared in 40 games for the Cardinals this season, posting a 3.67 ERA while striking out 59 batters across 41 2/3 innings. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound reliever was selected by St. Louis in the third round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft and debuted with the club in 2018. The Houston native has pitched in 187 games over his five-year career while keeping a 3.98 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and a 9.56 SO/9.
Kloffenstein, 22, has made 17 starts for double-A New Hampshire this season, posting a 5-5 record and a 3.24 ERA. The 6-foot-5, 243-pound. righty was selected by the Blue Jays in the third round of the 2018 draft. The Magnolia, Tex., native has made 80 career minor league appearances (79 starts), going 18-23 with a 4.57 ERA.
Robberse, 21, has pitched to a 3-5 record and a 4.06 ERA over 18 starts with double-A New Hampshire this season. The Zeist, Netherlands, native was signed by the Blue Jays as an international free agent in 2019 and has spent time with four of the club’s minor League teams. Over 66 career appearances (62 starts), the right-hander has compiled a record of 14-19 to go with a 3.73 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP.
To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Mitch White has been designated for assignment.
