Burgess, Marshall, Szabo, Zibin limit Nationals to five hits in 1-0 loss

The high schoolers took on the pros for the first time on the Junior National Team’s spring training trip.
The Canucks were edged 1-0 by the Washington Nationals first and second-year pros and then played an intra-squad game to make up for Friday’s rain out.

A leadoff walk in the fourth inning came around to score on a two-out single to left field giving the Washington Nationals prospects all of the offence they would need for a 1-0 victory.
Four Junior National Team pitchers held the Nats to five hits on the game, including Jacob Zibin (Langley, BC) who tossed three scoreless innings and Parker Burgess (Douro-Dummer, Ont.) who kept the Nats scoreless over two frames with four strikeouts.
Chase Marshall (Surrey, BC) allowed one run one hit and three walks with two strikeouts over two innings pitched while Zak Szabo (Whitby, Ont.) threw one inning.
Offensively, Max Hartman (St. Albert, Alta.) collected two of the Junior National Team’s three hits while Detien Lachance (Sherbrooke, Que.) had the other.
Canada Red 10, Canada Grey 4, Box Score
The second half of the doubleheader saw Canada Red score a 10-4 win over Canada Grey with Myles Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.) coming up with a double and RBI while Cole Leclair (Toronto, Ont.) doubled and scored a run.
Nick Frers (North Vancouver, BC) spun two scoreless innings for Grey allowing just one hit and a walk while striking out two batters.
Liam Adamson (London, Ont.) tossed three innings for Red without allowing an earned run while surrendering two hits to go along with one strikeout.
