Right-handed pitcher Connor Irvine (Victoria, BC) is having a season to remember for the Lassen Community College Cougars.
Just look at the Golden Valley Conference (GVC) pitching leaders.
Irvine leads the GVC with a 1.68 ERA and 68 strikeouts. He’s tied for second in wins with four. His Cougars are currently 18-11, which is even more impressive when you consider they’ve played 22 of their 29 games on the road.
Three of those seven home games came last weekend in a series with the College of the Redwoods. The former Victoria Eagle took the ball in Game 1 and decided to give the bullpen a day off. He spun a complete game shutout in a 10-0 victory. Over the nine innings, he scattered five hits and struck out 14. He’s now punched out 68 in 53 2/3 innings, or 11.4/9.
Connor Irvine is the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week for March 28 to April 3.
