Matt Duffy (Burlington, Ont.) closed out his regular season with the Canisius Golden Griffins by etching his name in the school’s record books.
Duffy picked up the win in an 8-0 Game 2 victory over Monmouth with seven scoreless innings of work. He scattered four hits and struck out 10. While punching out double digits is always nice as a pitcher, these strikeouts held extra special meaning. His fifth of the game and 100th of the campaign earned him the Griffs’ single-season record.
Duffy heads into the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament 6-2 with a 4.00 ERA and 105 strikeouts in 87 2/3 innings.
Matt Duffy is the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week for May 16 to 22.
