Fieldhouse Pirates and Junior National Team alum Owen Caissie (Burlington, Ont.) has been named the Canadian Baseball Network’s minor league Player of the Week after he had eight hits in five games for the triple-A Iowa Cubs.

Outfielder Owen Caissie (Burlington, Ont.) had three multi-hit games and batted .364 for the triple-A Iowa Cubs last week.

For his efforts, he has been named the Canadian Baseball Network’s minor league Player of the Week (May 20 to May 25).

The 22-year-old slugger started the week by registering a hit and an RBI in the Cubs’ 3-2 loss to the Columbus Clippers on Tuesday. He followed that up with two hits - including a two-run home run - in the Clippers’ 14-5 victory on Wednesday.

After drawing two walks in Thursday’s contest, Caissie added a double and a single in the Cubs’ 7-5 win over the Clippers on Friday.

He completed the week with a three-hit performance - three singles - to help his club to an 9-5 victory on Sunday.

In total, the Fieldhouse Pirates and Junior National Team grad went 8-for-22 in five games. He also had a .545 slugging percentage and a .962 OPS.

With his strong week, he boosted his season batting average 20 points - from .227 to. 247. In 38 games in triple-A in 2025, Caissie has seven home runs and 19 RBIs.

The 6-foot-3 left-handed hitter is in his fifth campaign in the Cubs’ organization.
