Cyr, Doucette, Pinkney impress against Astros

The Junior National Team is back on schedule with its spring training trip in West Palm Beach, the spring home of the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros.

A group of Houston Astros prospects took advantage of four Junior National Team errors and pounded out 12 hits en route to a 13-2 win.

Trailing by nine runs in the seventh Ty Doucette (Dartmouth, N.S.) got the juniors on the board with a line drive double to centre that brought in Hugh Pinkney (Toronto, Ont.) and Joshua Jones (Blainville, Que.).

Doucette finished 2-for-3 while Pinkney went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

On the mound, Charles-Olivier Cyr (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que.) tossed two innings and allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts.
