Bonilla belts two homers to help Dawgs keep win streak alive

The Dawgs secured another road win on Sunday when they defeated the Sylvan Lake Gulls 10-7 in front of 1,516 fans at Gulls Stadium.

Dawgs DH Benito Bonilla (Halifax, N.S.) belted two more home runs and had four RBIs to lead the offence. Bonilla also homered on Saturday.

Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) and Barry Eiseman added three hits each for the Dawgs, while Ricardo Sanchez and Eric Machej (Okotoks, Alta.) had two.

Right fielder Kadyn Williams also went 1-for-3 and knocked in two runs.

Zane Morrison started and pitched 2 1/3 innings for the Dawgs before being relieved by Chase Tucker (St. Johns, Nfld.) in the third inning. Tucker tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) then took over in the fifth and kept the Gulls off the board to earn the win. Seth Thompson retired the Gulls in the ninth to earn the save.

This was the Dawgs’ sixth consecutive win to open the season.

The Dawgs return to Seaman Stadium on Tuesday to battle the Edmonton Prospects who are 2-5 on the season.
