We’re unsure of the combined hit total for players with the last name Naylor have managed at a Perfect Game event.

Yet, on Day 1 of the 23rd annual Perfect Game World Wood Bat Association championship in Jupiter, Fla. the Naylor hit total jumped again ... and again.

Josh Naylor was the first brother to collect Perfect Game hits with his perfect swing leading up until the 2015 draft and then along came Bo Naylor leading up to the 2018. Both were first-rounders ... Josh 12th overall to the Miami Marlins and Bo 29th to Cleveland.

It would be unfair to expect the third brother to be a first-rounder in 2023 when he is drafted eligible. But Myles Naylor is at a PG event in front of 100s of scouts and he is hacking. He is also with the Junior National Team and compares athletically to Bo, who is a catcher now, but some scouts wanted to draft him as an infielder.

Myles Naylor, the youngest of the three Mississauga brothers, went 3-for-3 with a double as the Ontario Blue Jays lost their opening game 5-4 to the Texas Twelve.

C Sam White (Aurora, Ont.), DH Corey Morro (Cheltenham, Ont.) and SS Manny Alberto (Aurora, Ont.) each had two singles apiece, while Jackson Somerville (Burlington, Ont.) and Jorge Valdes (Milton, Ont.) had one. Morro, Somerville and Valdes knocked in a run each.

LHP Liam Watt (Burlington, Ont.) didn’t allow an earned run in 3 2/3 innings.

LHP Liam Watt (Burlington, Ont.) didn’t allow an earned run in 3 2/3 innings.

Liam Watt (Burlington, Ont.) started and pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing one unearned run. Max Burroughsford (Port Dover, Ont.) was next, working two innings as he, too, allowed an unearned run. Watt threw 53 pitches (67% for strikes) striking out three and walking one as his fastball was clocked at 85 MPH. Burroughsford threw 30 pitches (56% strikes) and hit 85 MPH.

The Texas Twelve trailed 4-2 entering the final inning, but rallied against Makaio Cisneros (Whitby, Ont.) and Quinn Tavares (Mississauga, Ont.) for three unearned runs on three singles, an error and a walk.

LHP Caleb Clark (Orillia, Ont.) of the Great Lake Canadians

Caleb Clark put up two zeros for the Ohio Warhawks in a first-round 2-2 tie against Team Elite Prime.

LHP Clark (Orillia, Ont.) was dominant, as he allowed a single to the No. 2 hitter of the game and after that? Nada ... as he recorded strikeouts for four of the six men he retired. And he only needed 21 pitches (71% strikes) to set down Team Elite Prime in two innings.

Hall of Famer Whitey Ford used to say the perfect number of pitches for one inning was 14. Clark, a member of the Great Lake Canadians, was way under par -- seven pitches -- with 21 (71% strikes) and sitting at 85-90 MPH.

Clark has committed to be a University of Nebraska Cornhusker ... where his coach Adam Stern went to class.

Clark did not pitch for the Warhawks in a 2-2 tie against the 643 DP Baseball Academy.

Ontario Nationals’ LHP Tyler Soucie (Cambridge, Ont.) impressed with the Midland Redskins.

CF Ty Hamilton (Orleans, Ont.) was 2-for-3 for the Brewers Langley Blaze with a fifth-inning single and a sixth-inning double. 2B Nathan Kirkpatrick (Surrey, BC) highlighted the five-run sixth with a two-run single.

The Ontario Blue Jays took a 3-2 lead into the sixth when Cincinnati’s Devin Taylor homered off Ethan Malicki (Oakville, Ont.). After a single, an out and a walk Lawson Leblanc (Georgetown, Ont.) took over. Next came a walk, an error and then Kirkpatrick’s two-run single to send partial bragging rights west

The Ontario Blue Jays went with a Johnny Wholestaff approach as James Wilson (Toronto, Ont., one inning, 10 pitches, 87 MPH, 50% strikes), Lachlan Harrison (Mississauga, Ont. one inning, one walk, 17 pitches, 79 MPH 52% strikes) and Eli Press (Toronto, Ont., one inning, 11 pitches, 84 MPH, 63% strikes) all had scoreless outings.

1B Cole Leclair (Toronto, Ont.) went 2-for-2 and knocked in a run as Rawlings National Scout Team battled LVR/TB SoCal to a 3-3 tie. Leclair is hitting .750 through two games.
