Of the 21 Canadians drafted earlier this month, 10 have signed.

Seven that we know of have been given six-figure signing bonuses.

The latest to sign was the top Canuck: C Noah Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.) of the Ontario Blue Jays. He was selected 29th over-all by the Cleveland Indians and was given a signing bonus of $2,578,138 bonus.

The amount was above the Indians slot of $2,332,700 and $78,138 higher than his older brother Josh received three yeaars ago from the Miami Marlins when he went 12th over all.

The others in the six-figure range:

_ The Miami Marlins gave third round pick Tristan Pompey (Mississauga, Ont.) from the Kentucky Wildcats a $645,000 US signing bonus $2,400 above the slot value. The younger brother of Blue Jays OF Dalton Pompey (Mississauga, Ont.) played for the Toronto Mets.

_ The Boston Red Sox signed Kentucky Wildcats C-1B Kole Cottam, a fourth round pick a $375,000 bonus, who has dual citizenship. Cottam was born in Memphis, Tenn, but his father Jeff is from Burlington, Ont.

_ The Houston Astros signed sixth rounder RHP RJ Freure (Burlington, Ont.) from Pitt University Panthers with a bonus of $348,800. He’s a former Ontario Blue Jay.

_ The San Diego Padres gave LHP Erik Sabrowski (Edmonton, Alta.) a 14th rounder from Cloud County Community College, $125,000.

_ RHP Michael Brettell (Fonthill, Ont.) a 15th round choice of the St. Louis Cardinals from Central Michigan University and the Great Lake Canadians accepted a $125,000 bonus to turn pro.

_ Minnesota Twins veteran scout Walt Burrows (Brentwood Bay, BC) got LaRon Smith (Spruce Gruce, Alta.) to give up his scholarship and join the pro ranks. Smith a 3B with the Okotoks Dawgs will also head down the pro path in Florida as a catcher.

Also signed are RHP Jake Sims (Guelph, Ont.) a 31st rounder the Padres gave $50,000, plus 3B Mitch Robinson, a 21st rounded selected by New York Yankees scout Denis Boucher; LHP Ben Onyshko, chosen in the 24th by the Seattle Mariners; RHP Will McAffer (North Vancouver, BC) a 25th round choice of the Toronto Blue Jays.
