The baseball world is mourning the loss of one-time Expos southpaw pitcher Jim Poole.
Poole died Oct. 6 at the age of 57. He had been suffering from the devastating effects of ALS, which was diagnosed in 2021.
Poole pitched briefly for the Expos in 2000. He appeared in five games for Montreal after being signed on May 19, 2000, two days after being dropped by the Detroit Tiges.
Poole's ledger shows he threw a total of two innings for Montreal, giving up six runs on six hits, including four hits and five runs on May 24 in the Expos' 18-0 loss to the Giants in San Francisco.
Poole's last appearance in his brief Montreal run was June 1 and he was designated for assignment the next day. He never pitched in the majors again.
Poole pitched in 432 career games in the majors, all in relief. He was 22-12 with a 4.31 ERA.
