Hague, Lannan added to Blue Jays' coaching staff

The Toronto Blue Jays today announce the appointment of Matt Hague as the club’s assistant hitting coach and John Lannan as the club’s Major League mental performance coach, both under manager John Schneider.

Hague, 38, joined the Blue Jays organization in 2019 as a Pro Scouting Fellow before serving as hitting coach at various levels, including spending the 2023 season with triple-A Buffalo. The Bellevue, Wash., native was selected by Cleveland in the 11th round of the 2007 draft, going on to play 11 professional seasons across five organizations, including 10 major league games for Toronto in 2015.

Lannan, 39, enters his fifth season with the Blue Jays organization. Over that stretch, the Long Beach, N.Y., native has spent time as the mental performance coach for Single-A Dunedin and triple-A Buffalo while also supporting players rehabbing from injury at the Player Development Complex in Dunedin, Fla., for the past two seasons. Originally drafted in the 11th round in 2005 by Washington, Lannan enjoyed a 13-year professional career, pitching in 153 major league games (148 starts) between the Nationals, Mets, and Phillies organizations.
