The Guelph Royals have re-signed pitcher Brandon Deans.

Deans, 22, returns for his third season with the Royals after an impressive first two seasons in the IBL.

In his first two seasons, the Humber Hawks alum has recorded a 3.73 earned run average while striking out a staggering 101 batters in 70 innings.

Deans, who can both start and come out of the bullpen, said he is looking forward to spending another season at Hastings Stadium.

"It's a great feeling to be able to re-sign with the Royals,” he said. “Getting to compete for an IBL championship in front of the best fans in the IBL is a feeling like no other. The fans deserve a championship and I'm excited to play a part in that this summer."

Royals manager Dino Roumel said Deans will be a key part of the Royals’ pitching staff in 2024.

"I am so fired up to have Brandon back with us this summer,” said Roumel. “He is just another player with a great competitive level and passion for the game. His stuff is outstanding with a low-to-mid 90s fastball. He gives us such versatility with his ability to start games, be used as a long reliever, or as a closer. He is loved by his teammates and the coaching staff, and we are all so excited about having him back."
