Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release
The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the signing of hometown outfielder Jacob Chiaravalle.
Chiaravalle is a graduate of Hamilton’s McMaster University, where he played OUA baseball before joining the Cardinals.
“Jake was the guy, who you didn’t want to beat you when I coached against McMaster, now, after watching him in the IBL for the last few seasons he is a very consistent gap to gap hitter who plays the game hard all the time," said Cardinals general manager Jeff Lounsbury. "He is an amazing clubhouse leader and he is very respectful to the game, we are so happy to have him back. He is part of the great local core of players that we are so proud of here in Hamilton."
Chiaravalle has played parts of six seasons in the IBL, but this would be his fourth full season. In 2019, he set career-highs in almost all categories. He hit .274 with nine doubles, four home runs and 18 RBIs. In total, during his IBL career, he has batted .272 and has 10 home runs.
The Hamilton Cardinals are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year-old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
