Official Toronto Maple Leafs News Release

The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed seven-time IBL All-Star catcher Justin Marra (Mississauga, Ont.).

In 39 games last season, Marra hit .275 with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs. For his IBL career, he has a batting average of .310 with 73 home runs and 243 RBIs. He is 14th all-time in IBL home runs. His next home run will tie him with former Leaf legend Bill Byckowski.

Marra is also a great defensive catcher, calls a great game, and is a leader in the clubhouse.

Marra joined the Leafs after being drafted in the 15th round by the Chicago Cubs and spending four years in the minors, hitting 20 home runs in 164 games.

“We are so happy to have Justin back for another season. He is such a huge piece to our team both on offence and defence,” said Leafs GM Jeff Lounsbury. “The guy can dominate a game in so many ways. He still loves to compete and his love of playing the game with his blood family and brothers in the Leaf clubhouse is special.”

For his part, Marra is looking forward to coming back for another season.

“Honored to be putting the Leaf crest back on my chest. Great to have another opportunity to represent my home city,” he said.
