Buffalo Bisons 4, Syracuse Mets (NYM) 11

The Buffalo Bisons had a couple of rough innings torpedo their chances to beat the Syracuse Mets as they fell 11-4 on Sunday afternoon.

With two home runs, Patrick Kivlehan was the big bat of the day, going 2/4 with the two solo blasts, one to right field and the other on his pull side to left. The two home runs gave Kivlehan 19 home runs as a Bison (23 in the International League and three in the Eastern League), as he now has hit the most home runs in a season as a Bison since 2013. Rowdy Tellez also hit a home run, going deep in the second and was 1/3. Richard Urena hit an RBI double, going 1/4 while Billy McKinney hit a triple, going 1/5 with a run. Dalton Pompey (Mississauga, Ont.) was 1/2 with two walks and Patrick Cantwell was 1/3 with a double and a walk.

Andrew Sopko was strong through five innings, giving up just a solo home run but ran into trouble in the sixth, allowing another home run and allowed five runs total on five hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings, striking out seven. Jackson McClelland came on and tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, striking out two to keep the Bisons close but things unraveled in the eighth as everything that Tayler Saucedo threw was hit hard and the defense let him down. He allowed six runs (three earned) on five hits including a home run with one strikeout in 1/3 of an inning. Danny Young came on and allowed his two inherited runners to score but shut things down after that with two hits allowed in 1 2/3 innings.
