SARASOTA, Fla. – The 30th edition of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup takes centre stage from September 9 to September 18 in Sarasota and Bradenton, Fla., where 12 nations will battle for a chance at a gold medal in a tournament that will showcase the top 18-and-under talent in the world.

This edition of the event was originally set to take place in September 2021, but was postponed to 2022 in late July, due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The last U-18 Baseball World Cup took place in in Gijang, Korea in 2019 where Chinese Taipei crowned themselves champions, defeating then-defending world champions USA in the finals while Canada settled for sixth overall in the competition.

The tournament format features two groups, having Canada match up against Brazil, Korea, Netherlands, South Africa, and USA in Group A of the competition. The Opening Round being a five-game round robin with the top three teams moving on to the Super Round and the remaining nations moving to the Placement Round.
