Josh and Bo Naylor homered in the same inning and also supplied the game-tying and game-winning hits for the Cleveland Guardians in their 7-6, 10-inning win over the Chicago White Sox at Progressive Field on National Siblings Day yesterday.

The Mississauga, Ont.-born brothers belted home runs in the fourth inning off Chicago White Sox right-hander Erick Fedde. Josh clubbed a solo shot with one out and Bo followed three batters later with a two-run blast, which tied the game 3-3.

“It’s awesome,” Josh told Bally Sports Cleveland in a post-game interview about hitting a home run in the same inning as his brother. “We are just blessed to be here. We just play as a team together and try to have good at bats. And good things happen when we try to have good at bats, so we just want to continue that throughout the season.”

“It’s super special being able to share the field with him, share these moments with him,” added Bo in the same interview. “It makes the game that much more enjoyable. To be able to do something like that with my brother, it’s amazing.”

This was the second time that the Canadian brothers have gone deep in the same inning. On July 14, 2023, they became the first Canuck brothers to homer for the same team in the same inning when they did so in the third inning for the Guardians in their 12-4 loss to the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

For an encore in yesterday’s game, with the Guardians trailing 6-5 in the bottom of the 10th, Josh hit a one-out double that scored Andres Jimenez to tie the game. Three batters later, Bo lined an RBI single to right-field to give the Guardians a walk-off 7-6 win.

The fact that the two homered together on National Siblings Day made it even more special. National Siblings Day takes place on April 10 each day. It was created by Claudia Evart to honour her older sister Lisette, who died tragically in an accident, whose birth date was April 10. Evart’s brother, Alan, also passed away in an accident, so the day was created to honour both of her siblings.
