Nine Dawgs selected for WCBL All-Star Game

Okotoks, Alta. – The Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Club is pleased to announce the selection of the following Dawgs players to the Western Canadian Baseball League West Division All-Star Team:
The “ace” of the Dawgs pitching staff, LHP Graham Brunner (Sherwood Park, Alta.), is having another outstanding season with five wins and a 1.45 ERA. RHP Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) gets the nod with a 1.21 ERA in 22 1/3 innings pitched.
Dawgs backstop, Jacob Morrow, has been a pillar of stability behind the plate as well as hitting .380 with a pair of homeruns and 19 RBIs. Dawgs first baseman, McCoy Pearce (Kamloops, B.C.), earns an All-Star nomination hitting .371 with three homeruns and 24 RBIs. Infielder Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.) joins the All-Stars with a .364 average and 32 runs scored. The dynamic Micah McDowell (Kentville, N.S.) will be roaming the outfield and in limited time is batting .400 with a team leading 14 stolen bases. Rounding out the Dawgs All-Stars is Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.) who has been the model of consistency sporting a .368 average with 10 stolen bases.
The coaching staff of the West Division will also feature a couple of Dawgs. Managing the club will be Dawgs head coach, Mitch Schmidt, while Dawgs coaching legend, David Robb serves as bench coach.
The All-Star Game is scheduled for Saturday, July 23 at 7:05 p.m. at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks. The gates will open at 4 p.m. The event will feature a 5 p.m. home run derby, autograph signings by former major league standout and Canadian Baseball Hall of Famer Matt Stairs (Fredericton, N.B.), musical entertainment, a pre-game show and a post-game fireworks display.
