Official Ontario Blue Jays News Release
The Ontario Blue Jays are excited to announce the promotion of Conner Morro to the position of director of player development.
Morro, a longtime Ontario Blue Jays (OBJ) player turned coach/instructor, has been with the organization full-time since his graduation from Canisius College in 2019, serving in multiple capacities.
He began as (and remains) the strength & conditioning coordinator while taking on infield coordinator in 2020 before moving back to the weight room in 2021.
He brings with him a wealth of knowledge in both sports performance and baseball skill development. The combination between the two is becoming more and more prevalent in today’s model for developing high level athletes across baseball and all sports.
Morro will utilize his scientific and biomechanical knowledge to build a year-round program that will produce not only the best athletes possible, but have the players ready to perform at their peak ability at the most important times of the year.
"It's an exciting day for our program and real testament to the hard work Conner's put forth over the past three years,” said Ontario Blue Jays general manager, Joe Ellison, of Morro's promotion. “What he gives the Ontario Blue Jays is a director of player development that harmonizes sports performance and baseball skill development, with it being his sole focus each and every day. This will ensure our players see the strides they need to take, to play baseball at the next level.
“The improvements our players have taken over the last month or so under his eye have been noticeable and as he settles into his role moving forward I expect to see even more positive feedback."
Morro played for the Ontario Blue Jays from 2012 to 2015 as a part of one of the most successful graduating classes in OBJ history. Morro took the collegiate route after OBJ, attending Chattanooga State Community College (NJCAA DI) before transferring to Canisius College (NCAA DI).
At Chattanooga State, Morro was named 2nd Team All-Conference Shortstop and at Canisius, he picked up the same honour as the Golden Griffins won the MAAC Championship.
He graduated with his BSc. in Health and Wellness before completing his CSCS (Certified Strength Coach Standard) and TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) certifications.
