Official Ottawa Titans News Release
Ottawa, Ont. - The Ottawa Titans have re-signed Canadian infielder Brendon Dadson.
They have also signed right-handed pitcher Alec Thomas.
Dadson, 25, returns to Ottawa following his rookie season in 2022. In 66 games, Dadson hit .266 with nine home runs and 33 RBIs. The 6-foot-3 left-handed hitter compiled 16 multi-hit performances, with 12 of them coming before suffering an injury in June.
Hailing from Bowmanville, Ont., Dadson previously suited up for the Intercounty Baseball League’s Welland Jackfish, where he took home Rookie of the Year honours in 2019. That season, he slashed .321 with 19 RBIs and 23 runs scored in 34 games played. Prior to the Titans, Dadson appeared in nine games for three different American Association clubs in 2021, later inking a deal with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.
Thomas, 25, inks a deal after being acquired from the Joliet Slammers earlier this off-season. In 2022, Thomas made 16 appearances (10 starts, six in relief) tossing to a 3-5 record and a 5.53 ERA in 68 1/3 innings. The 6-foot-1 right-hander enters his third season of professional baseball with his third different Frontier League club.
The Champaign, Illinois product is a graduate of Clarke University (Dubuque, Iowa), where he went 5-5 in 13 starts with a 3.29 ERA, 96 strikeouts, and 33 walks in 65 2/3 innings as a senior in 2021. Professionally with the Slammers and Southern Illinois Miners, Thomas is a lifetime 3-5 with a 5.31 ERA in 22 appearances. In 76 1/3 innings, Thomas has struck out 69 hitters, good enough for an 8.1 SO/9.
In other news, the Titans have traded INF Sicnarf Loopstok to the Lake Erie Crushers for RHP Gleyvin Pineda.
Further, the club has traded INF Kevin Rolon to the Atlantic League’s Lexington Legends in exchange for RHP Christian Zellner.
The Ottawa Titans open the 2023 season at home on Friday, May 12 against the Empire State Greys.
