The Ottawa Titans have re-signed Canadian outfielder Jake Sanford after he was released by the Sioux City Explorers of the independent American Association.
The Titans announced the transaction on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Cole Harbour, N.S., native had batted just .213 with two home runs in 47 games with the Explorers.
The left-handed hitting slugger returns to Ottawa after an all-star campaign in 2022, where he topped the club in hits (112), home runs (22), RBIs (73), batting average (.311), and slugging percentage (.550).
Sanford had actually re-signed with the Titans in January but was dealt to the Explorers.
The Maritimer was selected by the New York Yankees in the third round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Western Kentucky University. This made him the highest-drafted player ever from Nova Scotia.
In 161 games in the Yankees organization, where he advanced to High A, Sanford hit .267 with 23 homers and 88 RBIs.
