The Quebec Capitales have dealt right-hander James Bradwell to the Atlantic League’s Staten Island FerryHawks in exchange for future considerations.

The Capitales announced the transaction on their Facebook page on Monday.

This winter, Bradwell (North Vancouver, B.C.) went 6-1 with a 3.75 ERA in 10 appearances (four starts) for the Adelaide Giants of the Australian Baseball League. This came on the heels of his outstanding 2024 campaign with the Frontier League’s Capitales that saw him win the Canadian Baseball Network’s Claude Pelletier Award, as the top Canuck pitcher in the independent or foreign ranks.

The 6-foot-5 right-hander went 12-0 with a 2.72 ERA in 23 appearances (18 starts), spanning 109 1/3 innings, with the Capitales in 2024.

He topped all Canadians in the unaffiliated pro ranks in wins, was second in strikeouts (97) and third in ERA. His 12 wins also led the Frontier League and helped the Capitales to a league championship.

For his efforts, Bradwell was named the starting pitcher on the 2024 Frontier League All-Star Team and the winner of the Brian Tollberg Pitcher of the Year award, as the circuit’s top pitcher.

A North Shore Twins alum, Bradwell pitched for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds for four years prior to starting his professional career. He toed the rubber for two seasons with the Trois-Rivieres Aigles before landing with the Capitales in 2024.

The 26-year-old Bradwell joins the Staten Island FerryHawks who finished 55-69 and in fourth place in the Atlantic League’s North Division in 2024. The FerryHawks are managed by Mark Minicozzi, a former infielder chosen in the 17th round by the San Francisco Giants in the 2005 MLB draft. He played 12 seasons in the affiliated and independent pro ranks - including 14 games with the Winnipeg Goldeyes in 2009.
