Ex-Terriers Abram, Carr-Matthews, Worthen enjoy strong weeks in U.S. college ranks

The college baseball season is heating up and plenty of Ontario Terriers alumni are putting up impressive performances for their teams.
Carr-Matthews picks up win for Wells
Left-hander Connor Carr-Matthews allowed one run over five innings as Wells College downed SUNY POLY 3-2 in Game 2 of their series. He worked around a pair of hits and six walks, while striking out one. The win evens his record at 1-1.
Abram appears twice at Shriner's Children's College Classic
If you turned on MLB Network this past weekend you may have seen former Terrier Ben Abram as the Oklahoma Sooners took part in the Shriner's Children's College Baseball Classic at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. Abram made a pair of appearances for the Sooners. The first came in a 15-3 loss to UCLA when he tossed a scoreless 2/3 of an inning, while allowing a hit, and recording a strikeout. The Sooners again summoned him from the bullpen in their final game against No. 17 Tennessee. The 6-foot-7 right-hander worked two scoreless innings and held the Volunteers to two hits. He struck out one in the 8-0 loss.
Freeman has five hits as Cornerstone goes 5-5
The Cornerstone University Eagles played 10 games last week in sunny Florida. Daniel Freeman played in five of the contests and collected five hits, a walk and a RBI. He went 2-for-4 with the walk and RBI in an 11-7 win over in-state foe Michigan-Dearborn.
Gornio provides sweet relief
Andrew Giorno delivered two innings of work out of the Adrian College bullpen to pick up his first win of the season. The senior gave up a run on three hits and struck out one in a 16-8 victory over Piedmont.
Ellis K's five
In his fourth start of the season for the VCU Rams, Campbell Ellis threw three innings, allowing three hits, two runs (one earned), and a walk in a 3-0 loss to Lafayette. Ellis punched out five Leopard hitters.
O'Halloran goes six
Connor O'Halloran spun six innings and surrendered five runs (three earned) on eight hits for the Michigan Wolverines in their 10-8 loss to host East Carolina at the Keith LeClair Classic. The former Junior National Team hurler walked two and struck out four in front of 4,259 spectators in Greenville, North Carolina.
Other O'Halloran has fine performance at the plate
Connor wasn't the only O'Halloran that played well last week. Ryan pounded out five hits, walked twice and stole a base in four games for Butler. The Bulldogs finished with a 1-3 record.
Worthen makes two appearances
Sam Worthen made the trot in from the bullpen twice last weekend for the D'Youville Saints. The former Terrier workhorse threw a scoreless inning and struck out two in a 9-2 victory over University of the Sciences. He was back at it in Game 2, this time going 1 2/3 scoreless during a 10-6 win. He gave up a hit and struck out two more in the outing.
MacNeil goes an inning as Charleston blanks Bluefield State
Redshirt Sophomore Owen MacNeil yielded a hit over a scoreless inning of work for the University of Charleston in Game 2 of their series with Bluefield State. He struck out a pair in the 12-0 win.
Giberson doesn't give in
Ryan Giberson closed out an 8-0 Belmont Abbey win over Emmanuel with a scoreless inning of work and two strikeouts.
