Another Ontario Terriers player is off to the next level.

Outfielder Keegan O'Hearn (Oshawa, Ont.) recently announced his commitment to Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo. It was the entire package that attracted O'Hearn to the school.

"The coaches are amazing, their plans for me aligned with my future goals and they develop their players," he said. "I liked the campus, it felt like it could be home for the next few years. The team made me feel very welcome and the program has a good pipeline to four year schools."

It's been a busy few months for the left-handed hitting outfielder. Aside from choosing the next stop in his baseball career, he was also at the Team Canada Junior National Team Fall Instructional Camp that took place in October.

If you ask Terriers 18U manager Dean Dicenzo, the Plainsmen are getting a player they should be very excited about.

"Keegan is smooth in the outfield and can drive the ball to all parts of the field from the left side," Dicenzo said. "On top of that, and just as important, he's very coachable and a great teammate."

O'Hearn is thankful for the guidance he's received from the Terriers organization and the development he's seen in himself over the past few seasons, especially during what's been an incredibly challenging time with the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The great coaching has made me the player I am today, they're always willing to help and talk through the game with the players," he said. "During the pandemic, as difficult as it was for all of us, we were given good direction about how to prepare ourselves. They held Zoom meetings to talk about the game of baseball and they taught us how to write letters to send to schools."

Looking to get bigger, stronger, and faster before arriving on campus, O'Hearn isn't shy about sharing his expectations for when he gets to Northeastern.

"My main goal when I get on campus is to make a major impact on the field right away," he said. "I want to go in strong and show what I learned from the Terriers about being a leader and good teammate. I have big goals for future in academics and baseball, and Northeastern is the first big step."
