Tucker records three hits in Niagara's loss to UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Niagara University Purple Eagles (1-11) fell to UMBC (5-6), 10-4, in their series finale with the Retrievers on Sunday.
Game Recap
-The Retrievers got on the board first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning and three runs in the bottom of the third inning to get ahead of the Purple Eagles, 5-0.
-In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, an RBI ground out from Benny Serrano scored Matt Ward (Mississauga, Ont.). A two-RBI single from Vincent Mauro pushed two more runs across for the Purple Eagles to leave them trailing by two, 5-3.
-Brady Desjardins scored on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh inning to leave Niagara trailing by just one run, 5-4.
-The Retrievers, however, extended their lead in the eighth, scoring five runs to get ahead, 10-4. UMBC held the Purple Eagles off in the ninth and came away with the win to sweep the four-game series.
Eagle's Eye On
-Cole Tucker (Mount Pearl, Nfld.) led NU in hits with three, while Mauro and Cole O'Connor each had two.
-Desjardins and Tucker each had one double.
-Mauro had a team-high two RBIs, while Serrano recorded one RBI.
-Lasalle, Ont., native Nick Veselinovic (0-1) took the loss. He struck out two and allowed two hits in 1 1/3 innings pitched.
