Daoust, White, Warkentin lead Team Red to win at JNT camp

AJAX, Ontario – After nearly 18 months of inactivity because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Junior National Team program has resumed in-person baseball activities with a Training Camp at the Ajax Sportsplex, site of the 2015 Pan Am Games.
Thirty-eight athletes are in camp with fourteen inter-squad games scheduled from August 19-September 1 at 1:30PM each day.
Following camp, a roster will be selected from training camp participants to play in a seven-game friendship series against the United States’ 18U squad in Florida.

Louka Daoust (Repentigny, Que.) and Sam White (Aurora, Ont.) both homered while Boston Warkentin (Delta, B.C.) struck out seven batters over 4 2/3 innings to lead Canada Red to an 11-4 victory over Canada Grey.
Daoust has swung a hot bat all camp and that continued on Friday with a 4-for-5 day at the plate, including a three-run homer in the eighth, two doubles and four RBI.
White’s homer came in the second and was a three-run shot to left as Red built a 6-0 lead after two innings.
For Canada Grey, Jacob Miller (Oshawa, Ont.) drilled a two-run homer in the ninth inning while Nate Ochoa (Burlington, Ont.) finished with a pair of hits including a double and one RBI..
