The Toronto Blue Jays have signed RHP Dillon Tate to a one-year contract (US $1,400,000).
Additionally, RHP Angel Bastardo has been transferred to the 60-day injured list.
Tate, 30, made four appearances with the Blue Jays in 2024 after being claimed off waivers in September. Between the Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles organizations, he appeared in a total of 54 games between the majors and triple-A, posting a 3.70 ERA in 58 1/3 innings with a 3.42 FIP and a 48.6% groundball rate, while limiting hitters to a 33.3% hard-hit rate.
The right-handed reliever from Harbor City, Calif., was selected by the Texas Rangers in the first round (4th overall) of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of UC Santa Barbara, making his debut with Baltimore in 2019.
Across his five-year MLB career with the Orioles and Blue Jays, he has recorded a 4.09 ERA over 190 career contests with a 1.17 WHIP and a 58% groundball rate.
