This past week’s top Canadian college performer comes from a university north of the border.
Kyle Yip (Calgary, Alta.) helped the University of British Columbia take three of four from Oregon Tech.
Yip started his week with a solo home run to open the scoring in a 9-6 Game 1 win. He finished the game with two hits, a walk and an RBI.
Game 2 saw him go 2-for-4 with a double, a two-run home run and four RBIs as the Thunderbirds won 9-4.
He then homered in his third straight contest, another two-run shot, as part of a two-hit, five-RBI game in an 11-6 victory. The other hit was a double.
To round out the series, he had a hit, a walk and an RBI in UBC’s loss in Game 4.
On the season, Yip is hitting .309 with a 1.023 OPS in 21 games.
His play has helped the Thunderbirds win nine of their last 10.
