Usually the annual Perfect Game WWBA World Championship is coming out player for a high schooler set to go in the June draft eight months away.

Noah Naylor (Mississauga, Ont,) was rated the 22nd best high schooler going into the gathering of 88 teams from North America at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Fla. Scouts and recruiters knew all about the Ontario Blue Jays catcher/infielder.

Naylor’s Ontario Blue Jays teammate TJ Schofield-Sam (Brampton, Ont.)? Well, he had a week to remember. Not eligible until the 2019 draft Schofield-Sam finished with eight hits, tied for fifth in the tournament. Schofield-Sam hit .500 (8-for-16) in five games with a 1.029 OPS.

Naylor batted .364 (4-for-11) with a double and three RBIs as he saw more strikes than he did at Tournament 12.

The Ontario Blue Jays gave up runs in three of the first four innings to fall 5-3 to the Canes Prospects of Fredericksburg, Va. in the second round of playoff play.

TJ Sam-Schofield (Brampton, Ont.) had three hits and knocked in a run to lead the losers. C Noah Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.) doubled in a run.

The other hits went SS Ryan Johnston (Oakville, Ont.), RF Blake Buckle (Milton, Ont.), RF Ethan Hammond (0akville, Ont.) and Austin Wilkie (Mississauga, Ont.) who doubled.

Nick Fraser (Burlington, Ont.) started and allowed four runs -- three earned on six hits in three innings. He struck out four and 77% of his 53 pitches were for strikes. Diego Dominguez (Vaughan, Ont.) worked the final four innings giving up one run on one hit and two walks. He struck out four and hit 86 MPH with his fastball.

A single with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh gave the Banditos Scout Team from Houston, a 6-5 walk-off win over the Ontario Blue Jays in consolation play.

CF Joel McKnight (Whitby, Ont.) and 2B Khalid Collymore (Mississauga, Ont.) each singled in runs, while RF Dasan Brown (Oakville, Ont.) had the other hit.

Colton Tyler (Erin, Ont.) started working two innings and allowing two runs in three hits and one walk, as he walked one. He threw 61% of his 44 pitches for strikes, hitting 86 MPH with his fastball. Next up was Lucas Storm (Mississauga, Ont.) who pitched two frames allowing one run on two hits.

Mathew Barta (Toronto, Ont.) had a similar line allowing one run in two innings, throwing 59% strikes and hitting 83 MPH. Chris Bowles (Oakville, Ont.) getting two outs and allowing one run and Will Potter (Kincardine, Ont.) got the final out of the sixth as the Banditos went up by a run..

They won facing Jared Evans (Bowmanville, Ont.), who allowed three hits and one run.

The Ontario Blue Jays lost their exhibition game against the Dbacks Langley Blaze, won four straight and then lost the final two for a 4-3 trip.

Mike Steed’s team was also led by Ryan Johnston (Oakville, Ont.) who hit .353 (6-for-17) with an RBI and a .742 OPS. Jake Ervin (Mississauga, Ont.) hit .333 (6-for-18) with a homer, six RBIs and a 1.000 OPS. Tyler Small (Mississauga, Ont.) hit .250 (4-for-16) with a .681 OPS. Austin Wilkie (Mississauga, Ont.) batted the same .250 (4-for-16) with a .732 OPS.

The DBacks Langley Blaze dropped a 5-0 decision to the PRBAHS, of Caguas, Puerto Rico, in consolation play.

Travis McDougall (Abbotsford, BC) pitched two innings allowing two hits and one run as his fastball was clocked at 87 MPH.

Ryan Capuano (Scarborough, Ont) of the Toronto Mets pitched a scoreless inning striking out the side on 13 pitches. Kayden Beauregard (Abbotsford, BC) had one of the two hits for the Blaze.

Couting the exhibition game win over the Ontario Blue Jays the Blaze went 3-3.

Kayden Beauregard (Abbotsford, BC) hit .400 (4-for-10) for coaches Doug Mathieson and Jamie Bodaly with an .800 OPS. Ryan Magdic (Beamsville, Ont.) of the Ontario Yankees hit .294 (5-for-17) with a .686 OPS. Noah London (Whitby, Ont.) of the Ontario Yankees batted .250 (2-for-8 with three walks and an .705 OPS.

Almost 3 1/2 hours after the first pitch was thrown in the title tilt between the No. 28-seeded Canes Prospects edged the No. 11 FTB/SF Giants Scout Team 8-7, nine-inning victory. It is the fourth time in the last five years a team from the Virginia-based Canes Baseball has won the championship the PG WWBA World.
