GUELPH - The Guelph Royals are thrilled to announce that Sean Travers will return to the team as director of player personnel, while adding consultant to the manager to his position.

Travers, one of the more decorated players in IBL history, joined the Royals’ front office in 2021 and has been responsible for some of the team’s biggest signings, including the likes of Dalton Pompey and Kyle Thomas.

The Former Royal, who was once the director of player development for the Ontario Blue Jays, is the founder and director of player development for the Mississauga Tigers.

Since their founding, the Tigers, under Travers, have become one of Canada’s premier amateur baseball programs, highlighted by their 18U National Championship win in 2024.

Travers has used the Tigers to enhance the future of the Royals, bringing in the likes of Blake Simpson, Marc Nellis, and Keon Moseni, all of whom made impacts in their rookie seasons with the team in 2024.

Royals manager Dino Roumel called today an exciting day for the Royals.

“I’m so excited that we are able to have Sean join our organization once again this year,” said Roumel. “He is one of my closest friends dating back to when he played for the Royals and won multiple championships. He is easily one of the best players to play in this league during his playing career. I can tell you without a doubt he is one of the most intelligent baseball people I have ever met. He is the best teacher of the game, especially with middle infielders in the country. The contributions he has made already bringing players here has been incredible and there is no question our team got better last year when he was in the dugout.”

Travers said he cannot wait to return to the Royal City.

“The Royals have always been one of my favourite organizations that I have ever played for. I grew up as a Royal, playing here helped develop me as a player and a man. It is an absolute honour to work on a staff with Dino and Paul Ante. Both took me in as a young player and now it means the world to me that they are trusting me in my role. We have one goal and that is to bring a championship back to the Royal City.”
